Conference shows: EAGLE learning solution at the heart of public administration’s needs

At the 8th European Quality Conference in Esch-sur-Alzette (Luxemburg), EAGLE showed how its learning solution contributes to “strengthening the capacity of public administration in tackling current and future challenges” (the subtitle of the conference): EAGLE takes current practices and future challenges of learning and knowledge exchange of public administrations into account in order to strengthen both quality and quantity of public service provision.

More specifically,  EAGLE helps to meet two key requirements for high-quality public administration that were repeatedly stressed at the conference:

  •  In his keynote presentation on the “Quality of Public Administration – A toolbox for practitioners”, Florian Hauser from the European Commission mentioned the necessity of exchange of good and best practice examples in public administrations. EAGLE supports this goal: a part of its holistic learning solution enables the exchange of knowledge and experience among public employees across sectors and hierarchies both within and across governmental borders.
  •  Throughout the conference, “Open Government” was stressed as an important topic to many public administrations. With the emphasis on open educational resources (OER) and its open source software (OSS) basis, EAGLE not only provides an example for Open Government. It can even help to strengthen its key elements, i.e. collaboration, transparency and participation.

Many professionals from national and local public administration across Europe demonstrated interest in the EAGLE project and asserted the timeliness and relevance of such a learning solution. The EAGLE team is looking forward to engaging further with representatives of these organizations and welcomes new municipalities for the further development of the learning solution.
