Discussing pedagogical concepts and their technical implementation

EAGLE team members met in early December at DHBW Heidenheim (Germany) for an “EAGLE Ped-Tech-Hackathon” to elaborate on pedagogical concepts (“ped”) and their technical realisation (“tech”) within the EAGLE Learning Solution and to kick-off first implementation.

A hackathon is an event where software is collaboratively developed. Within the Ped-Tech-Hackathon the overall goal was to evaluate pedagogical concepts with respect to their technical feasibility. Methodologically, the event utilised so called “user stories”, a well-developed technique within agile software development, where the demands and requirements of future users are essential; “stories” are told from their presumed perspective.

Beyond the mere technical realisation, the hackathon addressed questions of usability and user-friendliness of selected features within the EAGLE Learning Solution, in particular for people working in public administrations in rural local governments.

Prof. Dr. Sabine Moebs, scientific coordinator of EAGLE is pleased with the results of this two-day workshop: “By putting our users of local governments in the center of the EAGLE Learning Solution, we all develop a better understanding for them – regardless of our disciplinary background. Thus, this event significantly helped to advance our international and interdisciplinary project“.
